Obituary

Walter Scott McCutcheon was born on Nov. 18, 1901 at Goldfield, Iowa, and died after an illness of two weeks at Pontiac, Mich., on Feb. 22, 1930, at the age of 28 years, three months and four days.

He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John McCutcheon of Goldfield. Scott grew to manhood at Goldfield, but for the last eighteen months has been employed at Pontiac, Mich. His father was with him during his last sickness.

Scott leaves to mourn his death, his father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. Carl Lewis of Eagle Grove, Marion and Verla at home; three brothers, Leonard; Lawrence and Donald, all at home; three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCutcheon Sr., of Goldfield, and Mrs. Geo. Helmer of Texas, besides a large number of relatives and friends.

Scott passed away, confessing his faith in Christ and resting in the full assurance that His Master had called and, he was going home. Not long is the story of his life as it is told in the words of men, but it was long enough that he confessed himself a child of God, and that he had been cleansed from sin thru the blood of Christ. Long enough that in his last, when hope was gone and pain was hard, that he could face death in the full assurance of his acceptance in the sight of God. Long enough that he was certain that his Master had called him home to be with Him.

Sleep on beloved, sleep, and take thy rest;
Lay down thy head upon thy Saviour's breast;
We loved thee well, but Jesus loved thee best,
Good night until we meet again before His throne, good night.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were:

Mrs. Chas. Anderson, Elmore, Minn., Jeanette Keister, Elmore, Minn., Mrs. Geo. Helmer and son of Palmer, Geo. Trotter, Miss Rudy and Miss Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Umstead of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Penn Eckles and family of Britt and Louise Eckles of Geneva.
