Wilbur Dewayne Lentz
January 19, 1924 ---- December 28, 1986

Wilbur Dewaine Lentz was born January 19, 1924 at Covington, Iowa, the son of Elton Doliver and Elizabeth Marie Smith Lentz. He was educated in the Wilson Grade School at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Following his education he began working with his father as a trucker, later working for Martin-Marietta Concrete Materials Co., Cedar Rapids. He trucked for the Warren Transport Co., Waterloo, for a time, later moving to Eagle Grove and Goldfield.

He was united in marriage to Vivian Armstrong of Cedar Rapids on Dec. 12, 1942 at Cedar Rapids. He also served in the U S. Army for a time, having been in the 8th Armored Division. Wilbur moved to Florida two years ago and was in ill health for the past one and a half years. He died there [Sanford, Seminole, Florida] on Dec. 29, 1986 at the age of 62 years, 11 months and ten days. He had retired in August 1985 because of his health.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Sanford, Fla.; son, Willard Dean of Sanford, Fla.; daughters, Mary (Mrs. Dennis OsterKamp of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Robin (Mrs. Randy) Edwards and Rosemarie Lentz, both of Sanford, Fla. Also seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wilbur D. Lentz Jr., a daughter, Marie Elaine Witcher, and a grandson, David.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1987 at 2 p.m at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Dr. Lloyd W. Meyer, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible, Eagle Grove, officiated, and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield, Iowa.
