Laurine Jessie Anderson, the daughter of James C. and Violet Rose (Knapp) Anderson, was born May 16, 1928 on her parent’s farm at Rolfe, Iowa. She grew up in Rolfe and attended Rolfe Country Schools and graduated from Rolfe High School. Following her education Laurine was employed for a time at Western Union in Fort Dodge. She later began a long-time career working for the different iterations of the elevator in Lu Verne as a bookkeeper.

Laurine was married to her first husband, Irwin “Bill” Jergensen November 22, 1952. Their union was blessed with three children: Judy, Dale, and Paula. Bill preceded Laurine in death in 1984.

She later married Henry A. "Short" Hefty on January 25, 1986. The couple enjoyed many years together sharing their blended family and grandchildren. Henry preceded Laurine in death March 1, 2015.

Laurine loved music and dancing and made many excursions to area ballrooms and dance halls for an evening of dancing and fellowship with her husbands and friends. She loved any occasion that meant being in the presence of her children and their families. Laurine enjoyed doing handicrafts such as sewing, crocheting, tatting, and other needlework, as well as raising flowers and gardening. She was a volunteer EMT for many years in Lu Verne and was a past member of the Eastern Star. Laurine was a very active member since the early 1950's of the United Methodist Church in Lu Verne where she played piano and organ for many years. She also fulfilled numerous other church roles including serving as treasurer, was a member of UMW, and volunteered in many ways.

Laurine will be remembered as a somewhat reserved lady, who cherished her family and friends and enjoyed the simple things along the way of her life journey.
