Cathy Lynn Curell
August 2, 1951 —-- October 18, 2019

In loving memory of Cathy Lynn Curell, who passed into her parents' and God's hands on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019. She was a gift to Willis (Bill) and Marilee Curell, born Aug. 2, 1951, at the Boone County Hospital. Her love of the smallest things brought great joy to her family, including her parents, grandparents, her surviving brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Kim Curell (Boone) and Ken and Cathy Curell (Boone), nephews Andy Curell, Ryan Curell (Emily), Nathan Curell and Jason Curell, in addition to all the friends she made throughout her life.

Her mother Marilee, who was president of the Boone County Association for Retarded Children, championed her early life at home. Cathy worked many years at the Boone County Work Activity Center. For the last 10 years, she resided in Belmond, Iowa, at a Mosaic group home with her group home friends and staff, which she considered her extended family.

She will be greatly missed, though fondly remembered at Christmas. She knew once Halloween was over that Christmas was near and often asked when Santa was coming. Every year she received a new doll from Santa.

Cathy loved getting a dollar from her brothers and she proudly kept and saved them in her purse so she could go shopping. She would spend hours looking at the pictures, greeting cards and magazines in her multiple purses. Puzzles, coloring books, Pepsi, swimming, kitties and dogs made her life full.

She enjoyed attending church with her family at the First Baptist Church in Boone, where she would socialize with the congregation.

She will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her life. We were blessed that we had her for 68 years.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th St. in Boone. There will be a graveside committal service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church in Boone or Mosaic of Northern Iowa, PO Box 506, Clarion, Iowa 50525.
