Donald Darrell Lindstrom was born August 8, 1931, the son of Harold and Bessie Christensen Lindstrom Sr. at Clarion. He received his education in the Clarion school system, and graduated from the Clarion High School in 1949.

In 1950 he was inducted into the United States Navy at San Diego, Calif. While in the Navy, he was united in marriage to Frances Yoder, of Woolstock, on July 14, 1952, at Oakland, Calif.

He received his honorable discharge at Treasure Island, Calif, in 1954. At the time of his discharge, he had attained the rank of Aviation Machinist Mate Airman.

Upon returning to Iowa in 1955, he worked for the Nissen Company Meat Packaging Plant in Webster City. After leaving Nissen's, he was employed for the Umthun Trucking Company in Eagle Grove until 1966. He then went to work for the United States Post Office in Eagle Grove, where he held the position of supervisor for postal operations.

He was a member of the Eagle Grove Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, the V.F.W., and a member of the Postal Supervisors Union.

Donald Lindstrom died at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge on February 1, 1991, at the age of 59 years, five months, and 22 days. He had been admitted to the hospital on January 30.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Barbara McClure.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Lawrence, Patuxent River, Md.; Steve and Donald, both of Eagle Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Christine) Portis, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Jack (Rene) Dreyer, Dakota City; and Mrs. Dan (Ginger) Harlan, Rochester, Minn.; three brothers, Harold Jr., Rockland, Mass.; Jerry, Eagle Grove; and Larry, Clarion; a sister, Audrey Olson, Clarion; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 4, at the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Tom Evans officiating at the 2 p.m. service. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
