Funeral Held Tuesday for Lewis O. Lawson, 64

EAGLE GROVE – Lewis O. Lawson, 64, formerly of this city, died Saturday at the home of his sister, where he had been making his home. He was unmarried, and had lived many years in this city, where he followed the occupation of a butcher.

Funeral services were held at the Kubitschek and Kastler parlors, Tuesday, in charge of the Rev. Norman L. Hammer of Clarion. The burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Surviving are: One brother, Gilbert Lawson, in Eagle Grove, and six sisters: Mrs. Fred Hobus, Shelby; Mrs. Harry Roach, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Fred Gates, Nevada; Mrs. Schultz and Mrs. Frank Boggs, Clarion, and Mrs. Schueller, in Minnesota.

He had lived for some time in Story City, previous to residence in this city. He was born in Rochelle, Ill. One brother, Ben, died two years [four months] ago.

Funeral Held Tuesday, August 10, With Services at Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home.

Lewis O. Larson died at Shelby, Iowa, Saturday, August 7. The remains were brought to Eagle Grove and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman L. Hammer of Clarion in charge. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Lewis Olie Lawson was born in Rochelle, Illinois, July 8, 1879 and died in Shelby, Iowa, August 7, 1943.

Being baptized as an infant and spending his boyhood days in Ellsworth, Iowa he was confirmed into the Lutheran faith of the Evangelical Lutheran church of that town. He moved to Eagle Grove with his parents in 1909, at which time he went into the grocery and meat business with his father and brothers. Later he became engaged in the same business at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He retired from business two years ago making his home with Mrs. Fred Hoves [Hobus] of Shelby, Iowa.

While Lewis Lawson left his membership at the East Side Lutheran church in Eagle Grove, he attended regularly the Danish Lutheran church at Shelby, having been at Communion table shortly before his death.

Lewis was well thought of by his family and friends for he always was thoughtful and kind to others. He leaves to mourn his departure, one brother, Gilbert Lawson of Eagle Grove, Iowa. Six sisters: Mrs. Pearl Schueller of Hayfield, Mrs. Anna Roach of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mrs. Jule Gates of Nevada, Mrs, Mable Hoves [Hobus] of Shelby, Iowa, Mrs. Frank Boggs and Mrs. Carolyn Schultz of Clarion, Iowa. A sister, Mrs. Marie Meyers and a brother, Ben Lawson preceded him in death, the latter having died but four months past. The immediate relatives along with many other relatives and friends will miss Lewis.
