One of the saddest deaths which have occurred in this vicinity for some time was that of Lloyd Stroup last Friday morning. Deceased was taken at the very threshold of manhood, with apparently a long, happy and useful life before him. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs I. A. Stroup, a family well known and very highly respected. Lloyd lacked a few months of being twenty-one years of age, yet had already displayed the highest attributes of manhood, being intelligent, honest, industrious and christian, the sort of young man the community can ill afford to lose.

Mr. Stroup died at his home four miles north of Holmes, having occupied this farm the past year. His illness began with an attack of the grip, which developed into tonsillitis, with blood poisoning as a later complication.

Deceased is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Ada Longway, to whom he was married in the fall of
1908. The deepest sympathy is felt for her and the sorrowing parents in this crushing bereavement.

The funeral services were held Sunday at the Baptist church, of which deceased was a member, and were conducted by Rev. Zetlopher of Eagle Grove. The large attendance showed the deep interest of our citizens in this sad affair. Interment was made in the Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield.

Mrs. Elizabeth Berger of Webster City and Mrs. Mae Utley and son Harold, of Fort Dodge, were in attendance at the funeral.

A large number of Goldfield residents attended the burial services for Lloyd Stroup at Glenwood cemetery Sunday afternoon. The Woodman lodge, of which the deceased had been a member, were present in a body. Quite a number of Goldfield people drove to Holmes to attend the funeral services, which were held at the Holmes Baptist church and was very largely attended by sympathizing friends, many not being able to get inside the church.
