Josephine Miller Duitscher
4 May 1853 --- 7 March 1927

Josephine, daughter of Arthur and Blanch Miller, was born May 4. 1853, in Germany. She came to America in 1869 at the age of 16 to Rochelle, Illinois. She married Ben Duitscher August 8, 1871 in Oregon, Illinois. Immediately after their marriage, they moved with team and wagon to Grundy county near Parkersburg, Iowa, where they lived for 17 years, coming to Wright county in 1888 to the farm North of Holmes, residing there until March 1, 1915, when they came to Goldfield, here she passed away March 7, 1927, at the age of 73 years 10 months and 3 days.

Survivors include ten children, Pete, Ben, Arthur, Joe, and Mrs. George Bronleewe of Clarion, Blanch and Mrs. Otto Matson of Goldfield, Mrs. Barney Jones of Luverne, Iowa, Mrs. Carl Carlson of Mankato, Minnesota and William of Thornton, Iowa. There are forty-one grandchildren all living except one and four great-grand children. Also one sister living at Parkersburg, Iowa.

Mrs. Duitscher was converted early in life, was baptized and united with the Baptist church of Buck Grove in 1894 and lived a consistent christian life. She was of a quiet retiring disposition and her chief delight was in her home life with her loved ones.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Thursday at 2 p.m. Conducted by Rev. J. S. Nicholson and attended by a large crowd of sympathizing relatives, friends, and neighbors. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery. The following were the out-of-town people present at the Duitscher funeral: John Duitscher and Mrs. H. D. Condon of Monroe Center, Ill.; Mrs. Kate Johnson, Dumont, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Hildred Pruesner, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Duitscher, Mr. and Mrs. E. Engelkes, John and Dan Hutting, Parkersburg, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Cossens, George, Ia.; Mrs. John Matson, Ames, Iowa; Miss Esther Matson, Des Moines, Ia.; Art Siemens and sons, Allison, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schipull, and Mr. and Mrs. Barney Jones, Luverne, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson and two sons of Mankato, Minn.
