Opal Fay Christenson Mahoney
July 5, 1903 --- December 30, 2001

Opal Fay Mahoney, 98, Webster City, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001 at Crestview Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Foster Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Opal Fay Christenson, daughter of Olaf and Maude Wilds Christenson, was born July 5, 1903 at Webster City. She attended Clarion and Webster City schools. She moved with her family for a brief time, returning to Webster City in 1910. On March 5, 1927, she married Henry Mahoney at Webster City. She worked for J.C. Penney's from 1926 to 1948. She then was employed by Eichmans from 1949 until retiring in 1975. Mr. Mahoney died April 17, 1952.

She is survived by two nieces, Bonnie Peterson of Arlington, Texas and Wylagail Cavanaugh of Gilmore City. In addition to her husband, Henry, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Mahoney was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she was active in her church circle for many years, Royal Neighbors of America, American Legion Women's Auxiliary Company E Red Bull - World War II, and a former member of Business and Professional Women's organization (BPW).
