August 28, 1938 ---- September 5, 2019

Sandra Hackbarth, 81, of Hampton, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Morgan United Methodist Church, Dows. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday, September 8 at the Woodley Funeral Home. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Sandy and her family.

Sandra Laurene (Rash) Hackbarth was born on August 28, 1938 in Popejoy, Franklin County, Iowa to Lyle and Selma (Graff) Rash. She graduated from Oakland Township School in Popejoy with the class of 1956. On October 26, 1958 Sandy was united in marriage to Donald James Hackbarth at the Popejoy Methodist Church. Sandy worked for over thirty years in the printing industry, retiring in 2002. She was also an active member of the farming operation.

Sandy loved her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed games and puzzles. Don and Sandy belonged to a 500 card club and Sandy played Pepper with friends until recently. Sandy liked to play Tripoli and dominoes with the grandkids. She had a running game of Tripoli going with the younger granddaughters that she officially won as she had the most chips the very last time they played. Don and Sandy also played many games of cribbage. Sandy enjoyed having tea parties with the granddaughters. Holiday traditions were always a big thing in the family which included grandma Rash’s rolls for holiday dinners and candy turkeys for Thanksgiving. At Christmas, family members always had one of their favorite foods wrapped under the tree and the gifts were from “Sandy” Claus. Bob Hograbe received a yearly gag gift and grandson, Matthew, always got a roll of duck tape.

Sandy was a member of the Morgan United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, holding various church offices over the years. She served on the Franklin County CROP Walk committee and was a member of the Franklin County Historical Society, Oak Hill Cemetery Society and a life member of Franklin General Hospital Auxiliary. Sandy was a past member of CAL P.T.O., Music Boosters and Athletic Boosters. She served as 4-H leader for Hamilton Hustlers 4-H Club and was named an honorary member of Franklin County 4-H. She was also a former member of the Iowa Falls Business and Professional Women and Iowa and Franklin County Cowbelles.

Sandy Hackbarth is survived by her husband, Donald Hackbarth of Hampton, Iowa; her children, Donna (David) Bryan of Polk City, Iowa, Janna (Rich) Glenn of West Des Moines, Iowa and Sara (Chris) Buseman of McCallsburg, Iowa; grandchildren, Jonathan (Deidre) Bryan of Polk City, Iowa, Sarah Marie (Stephen) Reish of Cody, WY, Matthew Bryan of Polk City, Iowa, Ryan Glenn of West Des Moines, Iowa, Christine Glenn of Ames, Iowa, Hannah Buseman of Davenport, Iowa and Halley Buseman of Ankeny, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Lilian Bryan, Ayla Bryan and Eliza Bryan; a step-granddaughter, Clarissa (Kevin) Figeley of Pearland, TX; step-great-granddaughters, Cadence Figeley and Kinsley Figeley; a sister, Nancy McKinley of Alden, Iowa; uncle and aunt, Richard and Jean Graff of Auburn, VA; special friend of over seventy years, Sharon Freese of Hollister, MO and friends Linda Hamilton of Hampton, Iowa and Patti Judy of Iowa Falls, Iowa as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: L. Ronald, Allan and William Rash and sisters, Norma Hunt and Virginia Willis.
