Harold Roger Hansel was born December 25, 1922, the son of Paul T. and Anna Lear Hansel in Newark Township. He attended country schools near Vincent. He has farmed all of his life, living with his mother until her death.

Harold died Sept. 1, 1968 at his home at the age of 65 years, eight months and six days. He leaves in passing one sister, Evelyn Johnson of Hampton, Iowa; five nieces and nephews including Roger Hansel of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and 12 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Allerton Hansel; and two sisters, Pauline and Arlene Hansel.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 1968 at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. The Reverend Paul Schaedig officiating. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
