RUTH SHIVVERS
Ruth Shivvers, 74, of Clarion, died Monday, January 15, at the Clarion Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 18, at the United Church of Christ Congregational. Stanley Watne officiated the 10 a.m. service. Yvonne and Shirley Stevens were the vocalists and JoAnn Olson the organist. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at the Pleasantville Cemetery. Casketbearers were David Daut, Graig Shiwers, Mike Hampton, Denny Miller, Daryl Zwiefel, and Larry Taylor. Honorary casketbearers were Robert Tysdal, George Mabee, and Mark Zwiefel.

Ruth Shiwers was born August 7, 1921, in Pleasantville, to Loren and Grace Freel Beem. She was raised and educated in this area and graduated in 1939 from Pleasantville High School. She worked for the Agriculture Conservation office in Knoxville. On November 21, 1940, she was united in marriage to Granville Shivvers in Kirksville, Missouri. They were the parents of two children, Gary and Linda. In 1941 Granny went into the service and Ruth remained in California until 1943. After the war, the couple moved to Knoxville and in 1955 they moved to Clarion. In 1989, they retired to Arcadia, Florida, and returned back to Clarion in 1993. Ruth was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Women's Fellowship, Bridge Club, and Garden Club.

Ruth entered the Clarion Care Center on October 12, 1995. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Granville of Clarion; one son, Gary, and his wife Theresa of Ankeny, one daughter, Linda Calari [Calcari] and her husband Stephen of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and one niece, Jean Ann Mabee of San Jacinto, California. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Argyle and Arlie, and one sister, Mabel Sones.

Ruth Shivvers, 74, of Clarion, died Monday (Jan. 15, 1996) at the Clarion Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ Congregational, with Stanley Watne officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasantville Cemetery, Pleasantville. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ruth Shivvers was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Pleasantville. Survivors include her husband, Granville, of Clarion; one daughter, Linda Calcari of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; one son, Gary Shivvers of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
