Death Of G. D. McVicker.

G. D. McVicker died at his home in this city last week Wednesday evening, Sept. 9th at 10 o'clock, after an illness of one week with typhoid fever.

He was born in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio Oct. 22, 1827. When 17 years of age he moved with his parents to Peoria Co. Ill. and four years later was married to Miss Ellen Torrey. He farmed there until 1865 then engaged in the mercantile business in Henry, Illinois for five years, then moved with his family to Kansas and resumed farming. In 1883 he moved to South Dakota and seven years later, in 1890, came to Eagle Grove where he has been in different business and secured a good home. He became a member of the Methodist church in 1851, three years after his marriage and has been a loyal communicant of that church ever since.

His wife and three children survive him. The children were born at Henry, Ill., two sons and one daughter. I. D. and G. C. of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Augusta Lowe of Ft. Scott, Kansas. Mrs. Lowe and her husband were here for a visit when he was taken sick and remained till his death and funeral. His brother J. D. McVicker and son of Henry, Ill., were present at the funeral and C. C. Cooper and wife of Webster City. Mrs. Cooper is a cousin of Mr. McVicker.

The deceased was a brother of J. N. and C. H. McVicker, well known here and among our beat citizens. His death is mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives, and the sympathy of all is extended the bereaved.
