Claude D. McVicker, son of Ira D. and Flora (Hiatt) McVicker was born March 31, 1884 in Ree Heights, South Dakota Territory.

As a young boy he came with his parents to live in the Eagle Grove community. He worked for the Chicago & Northwestern railroad as an engineer for some 40 years.

He was united in marriage to Lottie McDonald and to this union was born five children. His wife preceded him in death in 1918 during the flu epidemic.

In 1920, Claude was united in marriage with Sylvia Jensen. To this union was born three children.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, a daughter Fabian Virginia and a son Donald McVicker.

Claude McVicker passed away Saturday, October 17 at 5:30 a. m. in his home following an extended period of confinement.

He was a third degree member of the Masonic Lodge, the Bower Lodge Eagle Grove Chapter and Medina Council and a member of the Eastern Star and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia and six daughters, Mrs. Florence Dewey of Lansing, Mich., Mrs. Myrtha Clark, of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Mary Brown of New Boston, Mich., Mrs. Beth Rogers of Azusa, Calif., Mrs. Claudia, Betz of Lake Mohawk, Sparta, N. J. and Mrs. Mena Kay Amstutz of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also by one brother, Rev. Roy McVicker of Denver, Colo., and by 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and by one great great grandson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 20, 1964 at 2:00 p. m. at the Samuel Lutheran church of Eagle Grove, Rev. Jordan T. Jacobsen, officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill cemetery of Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Claude D. McVicker Funeral Tuesday In Samuel Luth. Church

Claude D. McVicker, 80, died at his home on East Broadway, Saturday morning following a long illness.

He was a long time employee of the Chicago and North Western R. R. and retired as locomotive engineer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Samuel Lutheran church with Rev. Jordan Jacobsen officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. McVicker is survived by his wife and six daughters, Mrs. Florence Dewey of Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Myrtha Clark of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Mary Brown of New Boston, Mich.; Mrs. Beth Rogers of Azusa, Calif.; Mrs. Claudia Betz of Lake Mohawk, Sparta, N. J., and Mrs. Mena Kay Amstutz of Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is also survived by one brother the Rev. Roy McVicker of Denver, Colo., 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
