BLANCHE MCVICKER DIED IN KANSAS

While Visiting Sister at Baxter Springs, Kans., Appendicitis Proves Fatal.

Miss Blanche McVicker died at the home of her sister at Baxter Springs, Kans., Monday, September 5th, at 10:30 o’clock. She was stricken with acute appendicitis at eight o’clock the same evening and died in about two hours. She was subject to attacks of appendicitis, but on account of the condition of her heart the doctors feared to operate.

She left for Baxter Springs last week Wednesday where she expected to spend her vacation from her duties as a bookkeeper at the Northern Iowa Gas and Electric office. She was visiting her sister, Mrs. Monroe Horton, formerly of this city. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester McVicker. She was thirty years of age and a member of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen. The remains were expected in Eagle Grove Wednesday evening and the funeral will be held at the home this afternoon.

Blanche McVlcker was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, March 24, 1891. She died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Edith, Horton, in Baxter Springs, Kansas, on September 5, 1921. She had just recently gone to her sister’s home for a visit.

Blanche leaves to mourn her death a loving father and mother, G. C. McVlcker and wife of this city, Mrs. Della Rounds of Menahga, Minn., Mrs. Edith Horton of Baxter Springs, Kansas, sisters; and Archie McVicker of this city, a brother, and other relatives and a host of friends.

Miss Blanche for ten years was a very efficient assistant at the Eagle Grove hospital, formerly operated by Dr. Morse and the late Dr. W. C. McGrath. For the past two years she has been bookkeeper at the Northern Iowa Gas & Electric Company's office, from which place she will be greatly missed.

She was of a kind disposition and always ready and willing to perform any task she might be asked to do without complaining.

She was a member of the Mystic Order, Woodman Circle, Homesteader Lodge and the Brotherhood of American Yeomen. In the last named order she was a leader in the degree team, which place she had filled for the last four years. Her place will be a difficult one to fill.
