ETHEL ESTELLA WALSH
Ethel Estella Sanders was born on April 27, 1918, the daughter of Roy and Geneva Lewis Sanders in Head Grove Township, rural Wright County, Iowa. She attended country school in Head Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1934. She then taught for a time in rural country school near Renwick. She was united in marriage to Gerald Walsh on December 23, 1939, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. The couple lived in Clarion before moving to their present home of 49 years in Eagle Grove. She was employed with the Eagle Grove Community Schools within the schools lunch program. She retired in 1980. She was a member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church and was active in the Naomi Circle within the church.

Ethel Estella Walsh died Sunday, March 24, 1996 at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 27 days.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Walsh, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Dianne Memler and husband Jay, Naperville, Illinois, and Carmen Clark and husband James, Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren; a brother, Delmer Sanders and wife Mariorie, and a sister, Maxine Umstead and husband Paul, all of Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Leone Sanders.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 27, 1996, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with Reverend Omar Pettersen officiating the 11 am services. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Inc. of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
