ANDREW L. McCAUSLAND
The death of Andrew McCausland occurred in this city at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. A. Cook [Cooke], Sunday, October 28, 1917, being nearly 83 years of age. Funeral services were held on Tuesday from Scared Heart church and burial was in the local Catholic Cemetery.
Andrew L. McCausland was born March 1, 1835, at Owensville, Ky. The family moved to Lena, Ill., when he was about ten years of age. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Walsh, at Lena, Ill., in 1858. Nine children were born to this union, five of whom are living, as follows: Charles F., James E., Margaret Cook [Cooke], William F., John L.. All are of Eagle Grove except the two last named, who are residents of San Francisco.
Mr. McCausland enlisted in the Civil War in 1861 as a volunteer in the 92nd Illinois mounted infantry. He was in the Sherman campaign in his memorable march to the sea.
They moved to Iowa, locating in Webster City in 1877. They were there, but a short time, then moved to Eagle Grove, having lived here 22 years. He was a blacksmith by trade. His shop in Eagle Grove was on the east side, later moving it to the location now occupied by Roy Comstock.
