November 30, 1909 ---- September 9, 1998

Hazel Beecher, 88, longtime Webster City businesswoman, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998 at the Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. tonight and prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Hazel Lerene Boughton, daughter of Arthur and Ada Beshey Boughton, was born Nov. 30, 1909 at Woolstock. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School. In 1926, she married Harold Derscheid and the couple farmed at Eagle Grove. He died in 1927. On May 10, 1929 she married Carl Jacobson and they resided at Webster City. Mr. Jacobson died Nov. 9, 1950. On January 22, 1955 she married Phillip Estensen at Huxley. The couple resided in Webster City. He died on Dec. 14, 1959. On Sept. 6, 1964 she married Harry Beecher at Nashua. The couple resided in Huntington Park, CA. They returned to Webster City in 1969. Mr. Beecher died August 17, 1983. She continued to reside in Webster City. Over the span of 50 years, she was employed at Montgomery Wards, Spurgeons, was the manager of Smart and Thrifty, and was the office manager of Iowa Miss and Mrs. She retired in 1990. She has resided at Crestview Care Center since March of this year.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Don Baedke of Fort Dodge, Lucille and Howard Mickelson of Duncombe, son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Mary Jacobson of Rogers, AR., a step-son, Don Estensen of Stockton, CA., 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by granddaughters, Rochelle Lass and Julie Baedke, grandson Bill Mickelson and a brother, Kenneth Boughton.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Naomi Circle.
