Jo Punkham, age 29, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Mercy Medical in Des Moines, IA. He was born on December 24, 1989 to Ma and Van Punkham in Merced, CA. Jo grew up in Webster City where he attended Webster City high school. After high school, he began working at Tasler Inc. as a machine operator for close to ten years.

Jo loved working on cars, cooking, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed staying up late nights, chatting and snacking on sunflower seeds until the sun came up. The overnight fishing trips with the guys and the canoeing trips down the Boone River will never be the same without him.

Jo was engaged to his high school sweetheart, Sengmany Vongsee of Webster City. He loved her unconditionally as she did for him. She took care of him, kept his spirits up, and never left his side. Jo was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in October of 2017. He started Chemo immediately for the next year until January of 2019, where he started radiation treatments.

Jo is survived by his mom, Van Punkham; siblings, Dao Punkham, Chan Punkham, and John Punkham. Jo and his fiancé, Sengmany, have 2 sons, Anthony (12), and Adison (10). He is preceded in death by his dad, Ma Punkham. Jo leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and many, many friends.

The family would like to express our thanks to everyone who has helped and supported Jo and the family from day one. Your kind words, thoughts and prayers are deeply felt.
