September 8, 1915 ---- January 8, 1916
Mrs. W. H. Burmeister went to Dubuque, Iowa, last Friday and adopted a little boy six weeks old from the orphan home. There can surely be no doubt in any Christian mind that a priceless reward awaits this noble woman, who voluntarily went forth and assumed this weighty responsibility. This is the second little boy she has adopted in the past three years. The little fellows were surely fortunate in getting into such a beautiful home and the very best of foster parents. Our best wishes are extended to all concerned.

January 12, 1916Obituary
Paul Leo Burmeister was born September 8th and died January 8th, being four months old the day of his death. He was attacked with the la grippe, but not seriously ill until Saturday. About 4 o’clock he commenced to fail, and grew rapidly worse. The doctor’s skill nor any earthly power could delay the hour he had to leave earth and those who loved him so well.
He was buried in Calvary cemetery, Monday the 10th. The funeral service was held at Sacred Heart church at 9 a. m.
The following verses were written by his mother, Mrs. Wm. Burmeister:
Our little Paul so young and fair,
Called hence by early doom,
Just come to show how sweet a flower,
In Paradise would bloom.
E're sin could harm or sorrow fade,
Death came with friendly care,
The opening bud to Heaven conveyed,
And bade it blossom there.Card of Thanks
We wish to thank our many friends who so generously gave help and sympathy in our great sorrow.
Mr. and Mrs. Burmeister and Family.
