C. R. Man's Death Ruled Self Inflicted

William Burmeister, 57, of 1403 Bever avenue SE, died early Tuesday at his home. The Linn county medical examiner ruled the death a suicide.

Police said Burmeister suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly before 4 am. Tuesday.

William E. Burmeister, born March 28, 1916, at Sioux City, was a conductor for the Rock Island railroad. He was married to Obera Fairchild in Cedar Rapids Dec. 16, 1968.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four stepchildren, Judy Tucker, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Mariann Jones, Manly; and Nancy Lee Fairchild, and J. W. Fairchild, both of Cedar Rapids; one step grandchild, two sisters. Sally Fellman, Des Moines, and Mrs. R. M. Benoist, St. Louis, and a brother. Edward Burmeister, Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Services are pending at Teahen chapel. The casket will not be opened. Friends may register at the Teahen chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
