Roger William Mentzer was born on October 21, 1933, at Manning, Iowa. His parents were Francis J. and Nina C. Northup Mentzer. They moved to Eagle Grove where he graduated from high school. After graduation he started to work for the Chicago Great Western Railroad. He also worked at All Star Pro Golf in Clarion.

Roger William Mentzer, 61, died suddenly early Thursday morning, November 3, at Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. Survivors include his sister, Margaret Heuton and husband Robert, Mission, Tex., and his step-mother, Alice Mentzer, Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul, and one sister, Helen Smith.

Funeral services were held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove on Monday, November 7, 1994, with Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
