Mrs. Selena Shurson Funeral Monday At Evangelical Church

Mrs. Selena Shurson, 75, died at her home, 1005 North Wright Ave. Saturday. She had not been well for some time.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Evangelical Lutheran Church with the pastor Rev. H. W. Schiller in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Shurson is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Roy Joseph of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Orval Hoffman of Renwick, Mrs. John Roberts of Marshalltown, Nels Shurson of Humboldt and Raymond Shurson of this city. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one brother and one sister, Clifford Lundberg of Britt and Mrs. Lillian Jacobson of Perry.

Mrs. Shurson's husband, Sam Shurson, died in 1963.

Obituary

Mrs. Selena Caroline Shurson was born October 15, 1892 at Britt, Iowa to Martin and Lena Christopherson Lundberg. She was baptized as an infant and was confirmed on May 9, 1926 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. T. J. Severtson. She died at her home in Eagle Grove on June 29, 1958 after reaching the age of 75 years, 8 months and 14 days.

She was married to Sam Shurson at Britt, Iowa in 1912 and they spent a few years there, moving to Eagle Grove in 1918. She had lived at the same location in Eagle Grove the rest of her life.

Those who mourn her departure are her children: Mary, Mrs. Roy Joseph of Eagle Grove; Nels of Humboldt; Raymond of Eagle Grove; Dorothy, Mrs. Orval Hoffmann of Renwick; Sadie, Mrs. John Roberts of Marshalltown; by one brother: Clifford of Britt; one sister: Mrs. Lillian Jacobson of Perry; 11 grandchildren, including Carroll and Ellen who made their home with their grandmother for many years and by 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 1 at 2 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
