25 June 1895 --- 3 Apr 1896

On April 3rd Agnes, the 9 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Lalor, departed this life after a brief illness with cholera infantum. The burial occurred in the cemetery, at the church, east of the city the Sunday following her death. How cheerless this world, did not the angel of hope stoop o'er the bier and whisper words of joy to be experienced in the mysterious beyond.

The pleasures of this world are said to be fleeting, but when the hand of misfortune is layed upon some men, it seems as though it was there to stay. Our good friend, Simon Lalor, is indeed having his share of the dark side at present. When absent at the funeral of his babe, the children set fire to his hog house and it was burned to the ground, and it was only through almost superhuman efforts that his granaries, containing his entire 1895 crop, were saved. No hogs were burned. When he returned home his little boy was also very ill, but is now much better. All these afflictions, together with the fact that his wife has been ill for several weeks, is enough to wring sympathy from a heart of stone.

The nine months old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Lalor living east of this city was called to its home above, Friday of last week and was buried Sunday in the Head Grove cemetery, the funeral being held from the home.
