Mark Joseph Lalor
July 15, 1894 --- April 13, 1927

Mark Lalor died in a government hospital near San Fernando, Calif., Thursday, April 14 [April 13]. Mr. Lalor saw much active service during the war and tuberculosis developed from being gassed while on the fighting line in France. For the past five years he has been in government hospitals at Tucson, Arizona and San Diego. The remains were brought to Eagle Grove for burial [Calvary Cemetery] under government escort and the American Legion took part in the burial services at the grave. The funeral service was held Monday morning.

Legion Participated in M. Lalor Funeral
The public was pleased to note the appearance of the American Legion at the Mark Lalor funeral services Monday. The colors and Legion escort accompanied the deceased from his residence to the Sacred Heart Catholic church for the Requiem Mass and funeral services.

Following the servlces at the church the comrade was accompanied to Calvary cemetery where a joint burial service was performed. The Legionaires in uniform participating in this service were: Color bearers: Frank Wixom and Trygue Olson; color guard, Lafe Peterson and Geo. Phillips; firing squad, A. Lonning, G. F. Wood, Carl Baker, Geo. Bernard, C. C. Chipman, Morris Christian, John McDermott, Jack DeVaul and Art Wille, commanding. Other members were Forrest Christensen, H. C. Riley, O. A. Pixler, Joe Gunderson and L. D. MacNaughton. Insel Shanor and Robert Stryker were the musicians.
