July 8, 1839 ---- September 2, 1907

Samuel Lashley died Monday morning Sept. 2nd at the home of his daughter Mrs. T. B. McCann in this city. He was in good health and around town Saturday and Sunday was very ill and death came to his release in a few hours.

He was born at Watertown, N. Y. in 1839 and August 1871 was married to Miss Susan Golden to which union four children were born, one son and three daughters all of whom survive his death.

Mr. Lashley was a soldier of the civil war enlisting in Co. F. 25th Ill. infantry June 25, 1881 and was honorably discharged March 8, 1865 when he reenlisted July 27 and was discharged
July 26th, 1868. He was taken prisoner at the battle of Chicamauga.

The burial occurred Wednesday morning and at his personal request was conducted by the Grand army of the Republic of which he was a member.

Mr. Lashley had made his home with his daughter Mrs. McCann for about four years and while expressing a readiness to die said his years had been happy in this home.

The interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all in their affliction.

A daughter, Mrs. J. B. Morris, of Sioux City, and Mr. Benutte, of Clarion, brother-in-law of Mr. McCann were present at the funeral.
