Charlotte McDonald McVicker
13 July 1889 ---- 14 October 1918

Mrs. Claude McVicker
Charlotte Liscum McDonald, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McDonald was born in Eagle Grove on July 13th, 1889 and departed this life at her home in the city of her birth on October 14th, 1918, being 29 years of age. After attending the public schools and graduating from the high school with the class of 1907, she was married on November 26th of the same year to Claude D. McVicker who survives her.

Mrs. McVicker was the mother of five children all of whom survive. The other relatives who mourn with them a loss which is beyond expression are her father and mother, three brothers, Will of Des Moines, John of Merlin, Oregon, and Charles of Clinton, four sisters, Myrtle, Mrs. W. E. Floyd, Mrs. Harry Fulton of Pierre, S. Dak., and Mrs. Harry Anderson of Ames.

The deceased was a member of the Yeoman Lodge and was at one time a member of the drill team. When a child she united with the Baptist church and has been a faithful member since. One form of service in which she seemed to delight especially, was the decoration of the church with flowers or plants on the occasion of a funeral being held there. It is a matter of special regret to many of her friends that a service could not have been held there for her also and the church made beautiful in her honor. Few deaths in this community have been such a shock as this one. On every hand one hears expression of sorrow.

Mrs. McVicker was a woman who made the warmest friends and commanded the highest respect from all who knew her. She was dearly loved by all the members of her church. Her memory will be a precious heritage to her near relatives.

Funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. Hugh F. Moore, were held from the late residence on Wednesday afternoon, October 16th. Quarantine regulations prevented large numbers from attending the services who would otherwise have been present. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
