Funeral services for J. D McComber, 90, pioneer Eagle Grove farmer were held Monday, August 31 in the Methodist church with Rev. Harrison Dawes officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. McComber died Thursday, August 27, following a brief illness. In spite of his advanced age Mr. McComber's death was sudden and unexpected.

Mr. McComber came to Eagle Grove in 1905 and located on the farm northwest of the city which he owned and farmed until his retirement in 1940. He then moved to Eagle Grove living here until his death.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alfred C. Hanson of Goldfield and Mrs. Duane Trausch of Eagle Grove and one son William L. McComber of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Summerville, Platte, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McComber, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Moeller, Somers, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Robinson and son Kenneth, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. William Crawford, Dows; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Patterson, Dows; and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Weise, Arnolds Park.
