27 October 1873 ---- 11 July 1950

Nellie J. Boustead passed away at the sanatorium at Oakdale, Iowa, Tuesday, July 11th at 4 a.m. at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Nellie J. Boustead, daughter of Frances and Thomas Arie, was born at Moulton, Iowa, Oct. 27, 1873 and her family moved to What Cheer, Iowa, when she was a small child. It was here that she met and married John Boustead on August 13, 1895. Four children were born to this union, two having preceded her in death.

She moved to Eagle Grove in 1899 and has made this her home except for a few years when Mr. Boustead, who passed away last April, was transferred to Hawarden, Iowa. It was shortly after her husband's death that she suffered a lung hemorrhage and her illness was diagnosed as advanced tuberculosis. Always a very active woman it came as a shock to everyone. She was ever hopeful of recovery and waged a valiant fight to the end. Her son and daughter were at her bed side when death came.

Mrs. Boustead was an ardent lodge worker especially in the Rebekahs where she had held many offices. She belonged to the Past Noble Grands, Engineers Auxiliary, D.A.R. Homesteaders and W.R.C. and she also had received the declaration of chivalry of the Patriarch Militant order of cavaliers for community service years ago. She had been instrumental in raising funds for the soldiers memorial of World War I and the new Oddfellows building.

She was a member of the Methodist church having joined when a young girl at What Cheer, Iowa, and it was while Mr. Boustead was secretary of the Sunday school there that they first met.

Mrs. Boustead leaves to mourn her death a daughter, Mrs. Robert Keleher of Des Moines, Iowa, and a son Thomas A. Boustead of Rockford, Ill. Three sisters, Mrs. Barney Dunlap of Eldorado, Ark., Mrs. Ida Cary of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Henry Schiltz of Sigourney, Iowa, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Kastler funeral home. The Reverend Harrison G. Dawes conducted the service and members of the Junietta Rebekah lodge. Soloist was Frank Wells and he was accompanied by Mrs. Charles Kastler.

Other out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Barney Dunlap of Eldorado, Ark., Mr. John Boustead of Omaha, Neb, Mrs. Ralph Miller of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Dunmire of Waterloo. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Brubaker, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cosby from Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Joe Campbell of Clarion, Iowa.
