The community was shocked and saddened on Sunday to hear of the very untimely death of Mrs. Genevieve Laurent Zirbel. She had been ill about two weeks and her many friends here were unaware of her serious condition.

Genevieve Laurent Zirbel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Laurent was born in Eagle Grove on March 29, 1884 and died at her home in Minneapolis on March 17, 1918, had the deceased lived until March 29 she would have been 34 years of age. She was employed in the millinery work with Mrs. Quint of this city for a number of years. On December 25, 1911 she was married to Mr. Glenn Zirbel and for the past six years had lived in Minneapolis. The body was brought to Eagle Grove on Monday and funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the Sacred Heart church.

She leaves besides her sorrowing husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Laurent; two brothers, Frank Laurent of Elliott, N. Dak,; and Edward Laurent of Eagle Grove; and three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Beveridge of Litchfield, Illinois, Mrs. Geo. Christensen of Eagle Grove and Mrs. T. B. Kearns of Manly, Iowa and Mr. D. J. Kelly and family of Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Zirbel was a woman of many friends. Her cheerful disposition, and generous heart won the esteem of all who came in contact with her. Her character and life was ennobling in the highest degree.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral are: Mrs. Hugh Larkin and Mrs. Mary Terhune of Welland, Ill.; Mrs. S. A. McClure and Mr. Lewis F. Zirbel of Malrun, Iowa; Mr. Will Zirbel of Grinnell, Iowa, Mr.. N. P. Christensen of Webster City and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jeanblanc of Industry, Iowa.
