LaVerne Donald Fatland passed away at his home in Pine City, Minn., on Sunday, August 5, 1979, at the age of 66 years.

LaVerne was born Sept. 13, 1912, to Sam and Lettie Nelson Fatland in Wright County, Iowa. He attended grade school in a country school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School.

In 1943 he was united in marriage to Avonell Nelson in Eagle Grove where they farmed. In 1945 Avonell passed away. LaVerne moved to California for a short time, then moved to East Moline, Ill. He was employed at John Deere until he retired at the age of 62. He moved to Pine City, Minn., in 1978. He was a former member of the Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

Those who mourn his departure are: four sisters, Marguerite Fatland, Glendale, Calif.; Lottie Fatland, Davenport; Edith Fatland, Davenport; Mrs. Kenneth (Ardith Jane) Wildman, Rock Island, Ill.; one niece, one nephew. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. at Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home, Rev. Donald Callen officiated. And burial was held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
