Funeral Rites For B. Borwey Held Sunday

Former Postmaster Passes Away at his Home Friday Forenoon. Widow and Two Children Survive.

Ben Borwey, 47, died at his home in this city Friday morning after a serious illness of several months. Mr. Borwey had been in poor health for several years. His condition became serious about six months ago when he was compelled to give up his work in the postal service. He was appointed postmaster by President Harding in 1922 and served continuously until 1935. Prior to this appointment he was mail carrier on City Route No. 1. After finishing his education he was employed for a few years by the Northwestern at the round house. He was retained in the postal service after his time expired as postmaster.

Obituary

Sivert Benjamin Borwey, son of Osmond A. and Carrie Borwey was born in Eagle Grove August 11, 1892, and passed to the reward of the faithful, October 6, 1939, at the age of 47 years, 1 month and 23 days.

Mr. Borwey attended the public schools and grew to manhood in Eagle Grove. He entered the U. S. Postal Service in 1913 and continued in that service during the remainder of his life, a period of 25 years and 5 months. During this time he served as postmaster from July 24, 1922 to August 9, 1936. On August 29, 1917, he married Miss Lillian Robinson of Eagle Grove. Three children were born to this union: George R. who died in infancy, John B. aged 12, and Thomas F., aged 10.

Mr. Borwey was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church of Eagle Grove upon whose roll his membership remained throughout his life. He was, however, since his early manhood active in the Methodist church and attended there when health permitted. He was a member of Bower Lodge No. 464, A. F. & A. M.; Eagle Grove Chapter No. 123 Royal Arch Masons; and Medina Council No. 26 Royal. Select Masters. He was always interested in his lodge work and was secretary for Eagle Grove Chapter No. 123 for 20 years and also was a Pastmaster of Bower Lodge No. 464.

There remain to mourn their loss, his wife and two sons, and a host of relatives and friends.

Knox of Lehigh; Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Robinson of Sutherland; Mrs. E. L. Rees of Casper, Wyoming; Mrs. Frank Jepson of Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Robinson of Le Sueur, Minn.; Mrs. Robert Walrod of Madelia, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Edmunds, Mrs. Lillian Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shuey, Mr. and Mrs. Orland Nordstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eppel, Mr. and Mrs. J.
