SPURLIN, SCOLES, JOHNSON, HEINZMAN, MILLER

13 October 1892 ---- 20 November 1963

Reeve J. Spurlin, 71, of 322 Courtland St., died at 10:30 p. m. Wednesday at St Francis hospital of cerebral hemorrhage. He was born in Eagle Grove on Oct. 13, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Spurlin. He married Anna Johnson in 1927. She died in 1945. On Oct. 26, 1945, he married Mrs. Effie Scoles in Waterloo. He went to work for the Great Western in 1908 and retired in 1960. During that period on different occasions he also did carpenter work. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and also a member of the Carpenters' Local 1835. Surviving are his widow, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Velma Heinzman of Littleton; Mrs. Hellen V. Miller, 319 Belmont Ave.; one stepson, Raymond Scoles of 1025 Midland Ave.; seven step grandchildren, and six step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. He was a resident of Waterloo for the past 40 years.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p. m. at the O'Keefe and Towne funeral home with the Rev. Roger Russell, pastor of St. Timothy's Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Friends may call at O'Keefe and Towne funeral home after 2 p. m. Friday.
