Grandma Cotton Dies Here Saturday, Was Almost 94

Mrs. W. J. Cotton died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Schoonover with whom she had made her home for several years. Mrs. Cotton had been bedfast since she broke her hip a few years ago, but had been in fairly good health until a week before her death. Had she lived until July 30th, she would have been 94 years of age.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Dale D. Brown. Music was furnished by Mrs. D. Van Nimwegen, accompanied by Mrs. R. W. Gibson. Casket bearers were John Henneberry, Joe Jensen, W. H. McCune, Verne Schaeffer, Elmer Oldson and Oscar Nelson. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery in the family lot.

Mrs. Cotton's maiden name was Myra Tilton, and she was born in Pierpoint, N. Y. July 30th, 1858. She was married to William J. Cotton in 1875 in Rensselaer, Ind. To this union were born nine children, five of whom are living: Mrs. Schoonover and Fred Cotton of this city, Chase Cotton of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Earl Cotton, of Stockton, Calif., and Everett Cotton of Mitchell, S. D. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. She spent most of her life in Eagle Grove. Her husband died here February 21, 1933. She was a member of the Congregational church, the Fidelity Bible Class, and the Order of Eastern Star.

Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Cotton of Mitchell, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. M. E. MacNaughton, William and Luther of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. George Roscoe of Alden, Minn., Mrs. Loretta Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Barnes of Butterfield, Minn.
