Wayne M. Rae was born March 5, 1915, the son of William and Anna Mangle Rae. He was born in Charter Oak where he received his formal education in the Charter Oak Community Schools. After having received his education, he started the Wayne Rae Candy and Tobacco Company in Eagle Grove.

He was united in marriage to Stella Lee, Thor, September 11, 1938. The couple settled in Eagle Grove.

In 1965 he retired and he and his wife moved to Charter Oak to live. Mrs. Rae died May 25, 1971, and on August 12, 1972, he was united in marriage to Barbara McCauley in Cedar Rapids. The couple returned to Charter Oak where they remained until her death October 6, 1989.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Golden Oaks in Charter Oak; the Bower Lodge No. 464, A.F.A.M. in Eagle Grove; the Mt. Lebanon Commandery No. 61 K.T. in Clarion; and the El KAHIR Temple in Cedar Rapids.

Wayne M. Rae died Monday, March 9, 1992, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 77 years and four days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Sharon and Roger Knudsen; two granddaughters, Leisa Floyd and her husband, Rick of St. Peters, Mo.; and Kristen Knudsen, a student at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio; two grandsons, John Knudsen, a student at Akron University at Akron, Ohio; and Eric Knudsen, a student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Charter Oak with the Rev. Jeff Dadisman officiating. Additional services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 13, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Schiller of Eagle Grove officiating the service and graveside rites in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
