March 28, 1916 ---- November 11, 1987

INWOOD, Iowa -- Lawrence Watland, 71, of Inwood died suddenly Wednesday at a hospital in Rock Valley. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Inwood with the Rev. Robert Bagley officiating. Burial will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today in Porter Funeral Home in Inwood.

Mr. Watland was born March 28, 1916, rural Inwood and attended rural schools. He married Ellen Aukland June 17, 1941, in Eagle Grove. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. After his discharge he farmed near Inwood until retiring in 1983. Mr. Watland was a member American Legion, Sons of Norway, National Farmers Organization, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he currently was treasurer. He served on the Board of Directors of Fellowship Village and was a former board member of Prayer Power of Marshall, Minn., and Tuff Memorial Home of Hills, Minn.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul of Inwood; three daughters, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Englerth of Stoddard, Wis., Mrs. Wayne (Jane) Wierson of Ames and Mrs. David (Mary) Hage of Inwood; a sister, Mrs. Vernon (Agnes) Kahl of Inwood, and nine grandchildren.

Memorials have been established in his name with Fellowship Village and Our Savior's Lutheran Centennial Fund.
