Death of former Eagle Grove man
Chester N. Hadden, 86, of St. Charles, Mo., a former Eagle Grove resident, died April 19 at St. Joseph Hospital there. Funeral services were Friday afternoon at the Baue Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Beerman of St. Peter's Catholic Church officiating. Funeral was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Mr. Hadden was born in Iuka, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Etta Hall Hadden; one son and two daughters, Robert J. of Berkeley, Calif., Mrs. Edward Wood of Springfield, Va. and Mrs. Jack Gould of St. Charles, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

He came to Eagle Grove in 1914 to work for the Chicago and North Western R.R. as a fireman. He was promoted to engineer in 1921, and retired after working for the company for over 40 years. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion Post 312 and the Veteran of Foreign Wars.
