Oct. 15, 1914 --- June 24, 1993

Marion T. Munson, 78, of 1040 Gilbert St., died Thursday, June 24, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes. He was born Oct. 15, 1914, in rural Story County, son of Benhard M. and Anna M. Mickelson Munson. He married Lillie K. Hansen on Feb. 1, 1941, in Eagle Grove. Mr. Munson was employed by Deere & Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald D. of Independence, Mo.; two daughters, Verginia L. Thomas of Waterloo and Marias A. Moore of New London; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Amos B. of Fort Dodge; a sister, Viola Armstrong of Eagle Grove; two half brothers, Paul and Clarence Jacobsen, both of Eagle Grove; two stepbrothers; and three stepsisters; he was preceded in death by a sister; a stepbrother; two stepsisters; a half brother; and a half sister.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Flagfolding military rites will be conducted by Waterloo VFW Post 1623 and Becker Chapman Post 138 of the American Legion. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
