Frank Charles Pohlman, Sr
15 May 1849 --- 9 April 1916

Frank C. Pohlman was born in Germany May 15, 1845 and died in Eagle Grove, Iowa, April 10, 1916. He came to this country with his parents in 1852. The family settled in Illinois where Mr. Pohlman was reared and educated. At 21 years of age he came to Iowa. By his own efforts, he began to acquire farm property. In 1870 he was married to Miss Maggie Broggle [Broeffle]. To this union seven children were born. Of these five are living. Fred of Clarion, Frank, and Bert of Eagle Grove, Herman of Waterloo, Clarence of Algona, and Mrs. Clara Olson of Eagle Grove.

In 1881 he came to Wright county where he bought large farming property at $10.00 an acre, virgin soil, which by his skill and industry he brought to a high rich condition of cultivation and of great value. In 1904 he retired from active farm life and located in Eagle Grove where he proved a respected citizen and a kind friend and neighbor.

Something more than a year ago Mr. Pohlman was taken sick with a serious bladder and kidney trouble. An iron constitution resisted the disease and his life was prolonged beyond all expectation. He bore his great suffering with wonderful fortitude and Christian patience. All that medical skill and loving home care could do was tenderly given to him. The end came quietly, peacefully, in loving submission to the Heavenly Father's will.

Mr. Pohlman was reared in the German Lutheran faith of which he was a consistent and worthy follower. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife and children and a great many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. G. L Hart, and at the Baptist church, Tuesday, April 11th at 2 p.m. and were largely attended. The burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
