Linda J. Connelly died on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at her home in Goldfield, Iowa, under the care of Wright County Hospice and her family, at the age of 60.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Connelly, Goldfield, her children, Chris Connelly, and wife, Pam, Rogers, Ark. Brad Connelly, and wife, Jeannie, Centerview, Mo., Patty Connelly, Kathleen Connelly-Brown, Goldfield, Mike Connelly, and wife, Dedra, Lowell, Ark.; seven grandchildren; her mother, Aliene Gates, Goldfield; one sister, Nancy Whyte, and husband, Steve, Goldfield; one brother-in-law, Harry Connelly, and wife, Mary, Mission, Texas; and one nephew, Josh Bailey, Rockwell City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Gates.

Linda Jane Gates, the daughter of John and Aliene (Morrison) Gates, was born August 6, 1942, at Marshalltown, Iowa. She was raised in the Conrad, Iowa, area, graduating from Beaman-Conrad High School in 1960. Following her marriage to Gene Connelly, they farmed in the Marshalltown area. After living in Texas, Wisconsin, and Illinois, they moved to Goldfield, Iowa, in 1976 where they raised their five children. She had been manager of the Dollar General Store in Eagle Grove, Iowa, for the past several years, retiring in July of 2002 due to ill health.

Private family memorial services were held with the Reverend Lisa Hadler officiating.

Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
