Joseph Elmer Apland
31 October 1891 --- 25 July 1969

Joseph E. Apland, 77, of Route 4, Caldwell, Idaho died Friday in Caldwell. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, by the Rev. Leon Collins, of the Faith Lutheran Church, Caldwell. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Apland was born Oct. 31, 1891, in Slater, Iowa. He grew up in Iowa and married Doris Weed, June 2, 1927, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. They came to Idaho in 1940, and had resided at Route 4, Caldwell since. Mr. Apland retired from a lifetime of farming in 1960. He served in France in World War I, and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, American Legion Loren Trotter Post, and a member of the World War I Barracks.

Survivors include, in addition to his wife, a son, James Apland, Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs. Dean Griffith, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Oswald Lewis and Mrs. Matt Vespestad, both of Cambridge, and Mrs. Otto Knudsen, Kansas City, Mo.; and four grandchildren. Five brothers preceded him in death.
