October 15, 1963 ---- June 8, 2019

Sallie Hunt Amstadt was born on Tuesday, October 15, 1963 in Clarion, Iowa and passed away peacefully on June 8, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, following a short but hard-fought battle against pancreatic cancer. Sallie moved to Albuquerque in 1974 at the age of 11 and attended Highland High School and then The University of New Mexico, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1989. Her attention to detail led to a successful professional career in healthcare quality assurance, most recently as a Compliance Specialist at Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

A proud mother of twin daughters, Sallie’s greatest joy was watching them grow into strong, beautiful women. She was very involved in all of their activities – from cheering them on at the soccer field to serving as troop leader for their Girl Scout Troop. As the girls grew older, Sallie’s home became a hub for them and their friends and she was considered by many to be a second mother.

Sallie was always known to be the life of the party, and her home was filled with love and laughter at any get-together she hosted. Her closest group of friends nicknamed themselves her posse following her cancer diagnosis and were by her side every step of the way.

Sallie is preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Elaine Rye and her father, Robert Ray Rye. She will be lovingly remembered by her twin daughters, Julianna Amstadt & Marissa Wagner and husband Michael Wagner; her siblings, Joe Hunt, Jana Newton, Leighann Fieweger, and Patty Campbell as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will take place on Monday, June 17, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Boulevard NE. Albuquerque, NM. As we plan to celebrate her life at this event, please plan to wear colorful clothing.
