Bert Swensen Amdahl

September 11, 1881 --- July 3, 1944

Berdinus Swenson Amdahl was born to the parents, Svend and Lena Amdahl, September 11, 1881, at Strand, near Stavanger, Norway, and died at Iowa City, Iowa, July 3, 1944, age 62 years, 9 months and 22 days. He was baptized unto Christ, received Christian instruction and confessed the Christian faith in his youth. In 1899 he came to America, to the vicinity of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and lived in this vicinity until his death.

On the 22nd of December, 1913, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Jacobson. To this union a little girl, Laurine, was born. Mrs. Amdahl died March 9, 1915. Bert is now survived by his daughter, Mrs. Laurine Soppeland of San Diego, Calif., and by one grandson. Also by four brothers, Louis of St. Paul, Minn., Ole, Magnus and Svend, and by one sister, Mary Amdahl. These still live in Norway, and also by a large number of relatives and friends.

Bert was a friendly man, well known to many in this vicinity. His health began to fail some time ago, and on June 13, he was taken to Iowa City for care. He passed away there.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 7th, from the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial was made in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.
