RESIDENT HERE 65 YEARS, DIED SATURDAY

Fred Rasmussen, Aged Father Was Ill Many Months; Died Saturday

Fred A. Rasmussen, 71, a retired farmer passed away at his home here early Saturday following a serious illness of several months duration. Mr. Rasmussen, who had resided in this community for nearly sixty five years, had been in poor health for sometime.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church on Sunday afternoon with the Rev. John Haupt in charge. Burial was made in the family lot in Glenwood cemetery.

Obituary

Frederick Anderson Rasmussen was born January 1, 1866, in Langland, Denmark. When seven years of age he came to America with his parents and two sisters, coming to the Evergreen neighborhood. Later they moved to the farm which his father bought northwest of Goldfield. In early manhood he purchased a farm across the road from his father's, which he still owned at the time of his death.

In 1893, on December 28, he was united in marriage to May Slaikeu at the Slaikeu home in Evergreen. Of their five children, three Willard, Hazel and Kenneth preceded him in death.

His chief interests in life were his family and his farming. He was loved by his family and friends and was respected by the whole community. Other interests were the church, the schools and other community enterprises. He was conservative and trustworthy, always ready to aid those in need of help or advice.

He passed away June 12, 1937, at his home in Goldfield at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 11 days. He is survived by his wife, two children, Eldon A. and Tressa A., both of Goldfield and three grandchildren, besides several brothers and sisters.

Gunderson, Mr. Fred Gunderson, Mr. Ray Lindhart, Miss Helen Grauner, all of Humboldt, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Slaikeu, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shoenhair, and Mrs. Laura Middleton, all of Eagle Grove.
