October 8, 1889 --- June 11, 1968

Sumner H. Schwenck, 78, died unexpectedly early Tuesday evening in a Rochester, Minn, hospital where he had been a patient since June 3rd. He had been in ill health for the past few months, but his condition was satisfactory on Tuesday and he had planned to return home Wednesday. His sister, Mrs Tom Vorre, was there with him.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday in the First Methodist Church, and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held at 8 p. m. Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.

Mr. Schwenck was born in Eagle Grove township, Oct. 8, 1889. He attended the country schools west of Eagle Grove, and Eagle Grove High school where he was a member of the class of 1908.

In 1912 he moved to Montana where he took up a homestead, and farmed until 1921 when he returned to Eagle Grove to enter the livestock buying business with his father, Chas. Schwenck. He also farmed and raised cattle on their farm west of Eagle Grove.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Tom Vorre of Eagle Grove.

Mr. Schwenck was a member of Bower Lodge, 464, The Knights Templar, White Shrine, and El Kahir Shrine, Cedar Rapids.

He retired and moved to his home at 505 So. Lucas four years ago.
