January 5, 1874 --- February 15, 1947

Mrs. J. O. Nelson, 73, died at the Creek nursing home Saturday, Feb. 15th after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home with the Rev.. T. J. Severtson officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Ingeborg Evensen was born to the parents Kjittel and Andrea Evensen, January 5th, 1874, at Kragore, Norway, and died at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Saturday, February 15, 1947, age 73 years, 1 month and 10 days. She received the Christian baptism, was taught the way of salvation in Christ, and confessed her Christian faith in her youth. In 1902 she left her native home in Norway and went to Canada, later she came to the United States of America.

On May 17, 1911 she was united in marriage to John O. Nelson at Paxton, Ill. In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Nelson came to Iowa, to a farm near Thor, and in 1921 they moved into Eagle Grove, which since was their home. They first operated the Grove Hotel, and after that the Hotel Nelson, and later the Nelson Apartment house on South Lucas. Mr. Nelson died January 15, 1939.

Mrs. Nelson is now survived by her three step-sons, Orval Nelson, Britt, Iowa; Nels Nelson San Francisco Calif.; and Gilbert Nelson, Fresno Calif. And by one brother, Thorbjorn Sunde, Sonoma Calif., also by three sisters still in Norway, Mrs. Ruth Antonsen Mrs. Henne Knutsen, Mrs. Marie Nicolaisen, and Mrs. Sigrid Veldeld. And by other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Nelson was a courageous and active person. Even though she struggled with poor health for some time, yet she managed to keep busy serving her neighbors. She was a faithful friend with a cheerful disposition. She appreciated the ministry of the word of God.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 18th from the Kastler Funeral home. Burial was made in the family lot of the Rose Hill cemetery.
