Mrs. James Johnson Dies at Humboldt

Ellen Josephine Erickson was born October 24, 1889 to parents, Isabel Olson Erickson and Bernhard Erickson in Humboldt Co., Eagle Grove, Iowa.

In 1893 she moved with her parents to Wright County, Clarion, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Sam Thompson, Clarion, Iowa, December 6, 1911. To this union were born four sons, 2 pair twins, Andrew and Arthur, now of Webster City, Iowa; Burdette of Clarion, Iowa. Bernard passed away at the age of 9 months.

Her husband, Sam Thompson passed away Nov. 8, 1935.

In 1941 she moved to Eagle Grove. She was united in marriage in 1945 to James Johnson of Badger, Iowa, who passed away January 12, 1964.

As a young woman she had a spiritual awaking. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and remained true to him until her passing away November 3, 1966 at Sisson's Nursing Home at Humboldt.

She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Alma Larson of Clear Lake, Mrs. Nora Thompson of Eagle Grove and one brother, Irvin Erickson, Clarion, and many friends.

She was a kind and faithful Christian mother and will be missed by her family and many friends.

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens.” II Corinthians 5-1. Blessed be her memory among us.

Funeral Services Saturday Afternoon For Mrs. Ellen Johnson

Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Ellen Johnson at the Sandvig Funeral home.at 1 p.m. and at the Hauge Lutheran church in Goldfield at 2 p.m. Rev. A. E. Windahl officiated and burial was in the Holmes Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson, 77, died Nov. 3rd at the Sisson Nursing Home in Humboldt where she had been a patient for six months.

Surviving are three sons, Burdette Thompson, Holmes, Arthur Thompson, Goldfield, and Andrew Thompson, Webster City, eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, a brother, Irvin Erickson. Clarion, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Thompson, Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Alma Larson, Clear Lake.

Mrs. Johnson, the former Ellen Erickson, was born at Eagle Grove, and educated in the Clarion schools. In 1911 she married Sam Thompson who died in 1935. They had farmed north ot Holmes. In 1943 she married James Johnson who died in 1904. They lived at Eagle-Grove and Badger.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Hauge Church.
