Thomas Sathre was born May 1, 1878 to Mr. and Mrs. Klaus Olson Sathre at Sognefjord, Norway. He was baptized shortly after birth at Sathre, Norway and at the age 13 was confirmed at Sathre, Norway. He died February 17, 1965 at the home of his son Lloyd in Los Angeles, Calif., as the result of a heart condition. He had reached the age of 86 years, 9 months and 13 days.

Mr. Sathre came to this country in 1901, coming to Eagle Grove. On Jan. 4, 1908 he married Olena Jenson at Minneapolis, Minn. She had come to this country from Norway in 1903. Following their marriage they came to Eagle Grove. She passed away on January 7, 1963, and since that time Mr. Sathre has made his home with one or another of his children.

Mr. Sathre was a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church since 1908. He retired from the Chicago & North Western Railroad in 1914 where he had been bridge and building carpenter foreman for many years.

He is survived by four children, Clarence of Dallas, Texas; Gladys, Mrs. Charles Creed of Phoenix, Arizona; Melvin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Lloyd of Los Angeles, Calif. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, together with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 22 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, H. W. Schiller, pastor. Interment followed at Rose Hill cemetery.
