Funeral services for Salmer Anderson were held Monday, June 7 at the Methodist church at 2:00 p. m. Mrs. Paul Loomis was the organist. Mrs. Clair McOllough and Mrs. Glenn Simmons sang duets, “God Be With You" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus”. The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art." Rev. Carl O. Jensen" officiated. Casketbearers were Percy Skadburg, James Weld, James Sebby, Eldred Shupe, Delmar Lonning and Dale Hardy. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Salmer Marvin Anderson was born April 28, 1896 to Stenard and Martha Anderson on a farm northwest of Clarion. He passed away at the Clarion Community Hospital on June 5, 1971, at the age of 75 years, one month and eight days.

He was baptized, as an infant, in the Holmes Lutheran Church in Holmes, Iowa and also confirmed his faith to God at the age of fourteen in the same church.

Salmer received his education in the rural Lake Township schools.

He was united in marriage to Ida Jordanger on February 19, 1919. To this union three children were born.

Salmer was engaged in farming until retirement and since then retained an active interest in the farm as a landlord.

At the time of his death he was a member of the Methodist church in Clarion and was also a member of the Clarion Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Adeline, who died at the age of five.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Ida; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Elma) Maxon; one son, Orval; three grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as a host of relatives and friends.
