20 October 1872 --- 2 August 1937

Funeral services for George D. Daniels, well know Storm Lake resident for many years, are being held this afternoon at the Lakeside Presbyterian church, Rev. E. L. Gibson officiating. Bearers were Dr. H. A. Pierce, Geo. Mack, M. E. Tracy, E. Matzdorff, J. E. Spooner, and Ben Zinser. The quartet composed of Mrs. Robert Bleakly, Mrs. Morton Hughes, L. O. Thomas, and Wilbur Kaufman sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul." Mrs. Hughes sang as a solo, "Crossing the Bar."

Death came to Mr. Daniels almost instantaneously, due to a coronary heart disease, and he passed away at his home, 713 Seneca street about 11:30 p. m. Monday.

George D. Daniels was born at Ft. Scott, Kansas Oct. 20, 1872. He came to Storm Lake at the age of 15. He clerked in the clothing store of W. C. Metcalf and later in that of Theo. Marten.

He was united in marriage to Maude Malbone of Storm Lake on December 7, 1899. To this union four children were born: Glen M. of Casper, Wyo.; Margaret Kevane, Clayton G., and Ruth M.

He spent the early years of his married life in Eagle Grove. Later he became an employee of the M. & St. P. railroad at which time he lived in Milwaukee, Wis. In 1907 he moved to Storm Lake and became associated with The Union Central Life Insurance Co. with which he worked until his death.

Besides his wife and four children he leaves to mourn a son-in-law, Joe Kevane; one grandson, Jimmie Daniels; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Harvey of Fort Collins, Colo; and an aged mother-in-law. Mrs. Margaret Malbone of Storm Lake; besides a host of friends.

Mr. Daniel's interests were primarily in his family. He took an active part in civic and community betterment. His friends will remember him as a typical outdoor man, a lover of nature, this trait being especially emphasized the past few years in his efforts toward conservation of the lake. He was particularly active in the formation of the Storm Lake Hunting and Fishing association and was one of the officers and directors. He will be remembered long for his cheerful disposition and his optimistic view of life.
